Overview of
CWV Research
The
Community Web Visibility Research Project was initiated in order to understand and analyze the ways that geographic
communities communicate and promote their physical presence to a potentially
global audience on the World Wide Web. We actively monitor the rapidly evolving environment of the Web and its
influence upon communities’ capacity to attract tourists to real
destinations. Our
explorations include studying the relationship between the physical identity of a destination
and its online identity. We firmly believe that careful and routine scrutiny
of a community’s digital identity significantly contributes to a
community’s capacity to enhance its economic landscape by
improving its communication landscape. Awareness
among community leaders and stakeholders of how their communities look
on the Internet is therefore critical because virtual impressions will likely translate
into actual visits to these destinations.
