Wetland Monitoring Program for the Boquet River Watershed

The Boquet River, a major tributary to Lake Champlain, is located at Essex County, NY. The river's 280 square mile watershed is in the Adirondack Park.  The United Nations' Man and Biosphere program has designated this area as the Champlain Adirondack Biosphere Reserve, one of the forty-seven such special designations in the United States.  Plattsburgh State, in partnership with the Boquet River Association, received a Wetland Program Development grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to develop a wetland monitoring program for the watershed.  Comprehensive surveys on wetland hydrology and vegetation were conducted on 40 wetlands in year 2005 and 2006.   The success of the program relies on continuation of the monitoring program.  To ensure the quality of the data, please follow the procedures listed on the website to conduct hydrology and/or vegetation survey.
